Let us talk about the weather, because of the global warming has changed a lot of things, there are floods in places that rained very little before. Anyhow, here I would have liked to show you a different photo, in the middle of the Australian desert, because it seems to me that where there was desert, now there is water everywhere, just like to photo above dirty waters.

--------------------------------

JANUARY 2022 DIARY AND WORLD NEWS.

Welcome to my diary article, January 2022 World Views.

This is my January diary, I would like to start with the weather in Australia and the world, because it effects the entire world. So, let us talk about the weather, because today I start to believe that the global warming is really affecting us. Since every time I look at the weather forecast, they are telling us that so much rain has fallen, in some places, and there are floods, they are talking about hundreds of millimeters in a few hours, which I believe it has not happened in the past, so, I wonder what is happening. Today this is how one of the floods in South Australia has been reported. (And I quote).

Suppliers say South Australia's flood emergency has created one of the biggest disruptions to food supplies in living memory. Part of the main highway linking Adelaide and the state's north remains underwater and it could take a fortnight to repair vital rail lines to the NT and WA. (End of quote).

So, this makes me think that things are really changing, in the middle of Australia, where there was desert, now there is water everywhere, If this keeps going, we might end up with an inland sea, which may even be helpful, who knows. These happenings make me think that there can be big climatic changes ahead. Now let us look at what is happening in the world.

Floods in Australia, now Australia is a flat country, so, when it rains heavily and floods, the waters will take a long time to drain away. So, it becomes like like an inland sea, sometimes these water are dirty and sometimes almost clear, like water you see in this photo, it may take days before everything is normal again. Anyhow, now let us see what is happening in the world.

---------------------

What is happening in the world this year.

This new year politically seems to be less dramatic than last year, when there was this rebellion at the white house and five people lost their lives, and they are still working out who is to blame. Then there was this change of government and Joe Biden became the new president of USA. There were a few changes during the year, but not as much as some people thought could happen. Anyhow, this year nothing is happening, except for the COVID-19 pandemic, that seems to continue and mutates, and the amount of people that have been immunized.

In Europe there is this problem between Russia and Ukraine, the rest of the world is worried that the Russian can invade Ukraine, UK premier Boris Jonson and President Joe Bided have warned Russia not to do it, but we are all waiting about what is going to happen next.

In Italy they must elect a new president, since the incumbent president Sergio Mattarella mandate ends the 3rd of February 2022, but they are not getting anywhere with their voting. In Italy, it seems to be always the same story, they take a long time to elect a new president. Anyhow, after several days of voting, they voted to keep the incumbent president, Sergio Mattarella, even though he said at the beginning, that he did not want to be the president anymore, but somehow, he has accepted to stay a second term.

In the Pacific Ocean, a volcanic explosion has caused a tsunami and massive damage on several islands of Tonga, because of its remoteness the rest of the world did not know much at the beginning, since most connections were down. Anyhow, there has been a lot of damage, from the tsunami and from ashes falling from the sky, some people have died, and they need help, so, Australia and New Zeeland, are sending ships with supply, but it will take a few days to get there.

As if this was not enough an earthquake has followed, and this is how it has been reported, and I quote.

Tonga has been rocked by a magnitude 6.2 earthquake, just weeks after a devastating volcanic eruption and tsunami.

The quake struck 130 miles west of the island of Lifuka around 7.40pm local time on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey said.

Lifuka is part of the low-lying Haʻapai Islands chain which was hard-hit in the Hunga-Tonga eruption, with several of the islands seeing all their buildings swept away in the subsequent tsunami.

There was no immediate word on damage from Thursday's earthquake, with communications in the region still badly disrupted after the eruption severed an underwater internet cable that is still being repaired.

However, the National Weather Service located in nearby American Samoa said no tsunami had been caused - meaning any damage is likely to be limited.

(End of quotes). Now let us look at the Covid-19.

------------------------

The COVID-19 pandemic.

This article has been started in January 2022. What has this new year in store for us nobody knows, we hope it is a better year than the last two years, since the entire world has suffered and is still suffering, due to the corona virus pandemic. I believe that the entire world wishes that this disease disappears, so, we are all praying and hoping we can go back to a normal life this year. Anyhow, we must wait and see what happens next, meanwhile we can look at what is happening in the world.

In Queensland in December 2021, there were only a few cases of COVID-19, suddenly in a month there are about 15,000 cases positive each day. The rest of the world may even be worse off, so, let us look at this very short list.

In Queensland at the end of January 2022 we have 403,000 positive, and 196 deaths.

In Australia we have 2,600,000 positive and 3,750 deaths.

In the world we have 366 million positive and 5,637,000 deaths.

They are talking to us that people that are vaccinated are less likely to die, so they are saying get vaccinated, but not everybody does. Now let us look at what some people are interested in.

-------------------------

Happening that most people are interested.

Apart from the corona virus pandemic the other thing that people seem to be interested are these three personal cases. The first is the civil case hearing between, Virginia Giuffre and Prince Andrew. Here is what I found on the internet, and I quote:

Top story: Prince Andrew civil case hearing looms

Hello, I’m Virginia Harrison and here is your first morning briefing for 2022.

A 2009 legal settlement between Virginia Giuffre and Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender whom she accused of sexual abuse, has been released. The settlement was made public on Monday as part of Giuffre’s 2021 civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, whom she accuses of sexually abusing her two decades ago when she was 17.

------------------

The outcome of this event above is interesting.

The Queen has stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and royal patronages. It comes as he faces a civil case in the United States over claims he sexually assaulted a woman when she was 17.

CNN reporter Max Foster told Sky News Australia he is ultimately out of the “firm”.

“He doesn’t have any royal role, he doesn’t have any military titles, he doesn’t have those patronages that you need to carry out a royal role” (End of quotes).

--------------------------------------

The second man that is making news is tennis player Novak Djokovic.

(And I quote)

Within hours of being released from immigration detention on Monday evening, Novak Djokovic headed for Rod Laver Arena to have a practice session in preparation for his planned Australian Open title defence.

The Serb was granted late night access to the court to loosen his limbs and reacquaint himself with his tennis racquets after spending almost a week under guard at the Park Hotel in the inner Melbourne suburb of Carlton, and the day at his lawyers' chambers listening to the court case.

After several hours of legal argument Federal Circuit Court Judge Anthony Kelly quashed the decision to block Djokovic's entry into Australia.

The judge said the world No.1 was given insufficient time to speak to Tennis Australia officials and to lawyers to respond to being told of the intent to cancel his visa. (End of quote).

What has happened since then, is that his visa was cancelled, and he returned to Serbia, but he still wants to fight the Australian government for damages. Who knows what can happen next?

-----------------------------------------

The third case that is making news is this murder case, here is what I found on the internet, and I quote.

A man has been charged with the murder of a nine-year-old girl after a child’s body was found stuffed in a barrel and dumped in a river.

The girl, who can no longer be named due to a charge being laid, had been holidaying with family in Mount Wilson, near the Blue Mountains.

NSW Police Acting Commissioner Karen Webb, Deputy Premier Paul Toole, and NSW Police Deputy Commissioner David Hudson will hold a press conference at 11.15am AEDT to provide an update on the case. You can watch it LIVE in the video player above. (End of quote).

Anyhow, I can only think how cruel some people can be. It is a very sorry case, that makes me sick to think about it, so, I am not going to say anything else.

Now, let us talk about sporting events.

The golden Australian girl Ash Barty has made all Australian proud, by winning the Australian open tennis tournament trophy, I am pretty sure that all Australian were thrilled and proud of her.

Now, let us talk about sporting events.

Today is the 31st of January 2022, and we know that the female tennis player, Ashleigh Barty, has won the Australian open, and all Australia is happy about it. For the man Rafael Nadal has won, in a match that lasted about 5 hours. It makes you wonder how strong these people are. Hereunder are some of the reports. (And I quote)

Ash Barty claimed her first Australian Open title on Saturday night with a record-breaking number of Aussies watching on from home.

According to OzTAM, Barty's 6-3, 7-6 victory over American Danielle Collins in the final attracted a peak audience of 4.261 million viewers with an average of 3.577 million.

Nadal pulled off one of the great Australian Open final victories, as he came back from two sets down to defeat world No. 2 and tournament favourite Daniil Medvedev 3-2 in a clash for the ages.

Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios praised the contributions of the entire Australian contigent in one of the most memorable Australian Opens ever.

The Special Ks appeared on TODAY together on Tuesday morning, three days after their incredible men's doubles win.

"Ash winning the Grand Slam was unbelievable. Me and Thanasi were in the room where she came back to her family and it was a special moment to see her share that with her support crew as well," Kyrgios said.

Rafael Nadal with his 21st tennis trophy looks tiered but happy, he has got more open trophy than anybody else, but it took him 5 long hours of hard work to win it.

Anyhow, there are many other things that can be said, but I believe that this article is too long, so, see you next month, with another diary of what is happening.

The Olympic games and other news.

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG YOU ARE INVITED , TO BROWSE AS LONG AS YOU LIKE. Anyhow, here I will publish my own diary and what I see happening in the world, and when I do not have much to say, I will write posts from my life story.
So, today I am writing a post about what is happening in the world. starting with the Olympic Games.

Some of these news can also be found at this link, What Has Happened in July 2021 .

Dear readers, in this blog we have some good news and some bad news, we will start with the good news the Olympic games and other sporting news, then we will talk about the bad news, the COVID 19 second or third wave that is upsetting us.

Welcome to our blog, The Olympic games and other news.

Dear readers, this is my diary to remember what is happening, in this article we will talk about the Olympic Games, then whatever happens in the world. You know everyone of us follows the Olympic games hoping that their country wins many medals. In my case I am following Australia, Italy, the USA, and a few others.

Today is the 6th of August 2021 and the Olympic games in Tokyo in a few days will finish. We can say that Australia is doing well so far at the Olympic Games, they have already won 17 gold medals, 5 silver and 19 bronze, total 41 medals. There are a few more days before the end. As usual Australia has done well in all water games. The Australian girls have done an excellent job, they were better than the boys, but that does not matter.

I believe that Italy has not been lucky, because they have won only 7 gold medals, 10 silver and 18 bronze, total 35 medals. If you split these three ways it should have been about 12 medals each, that is why I think Italy has been unlucky.

USA is not doing as well as it used to be, since most time they were so far ahead, but this year China is ahead of the USA so far. Anyhow, today they have 29 gold medals, 35 silver and 27 bronze. This is the greatest amount of medal overall, but China has 34 gold medals, this puts the USA in second place.

Anyhow, we have still to see the end of the games in a few days to know which country has won the most gold medals, and most medals overall. We will talk about it in another article, then.

--------------------------

Now let us talk about other sporting news.

These are last month sporting news. Soccer. In Europe they are all waiting who is going to win this year. This year finals are between Italy and England.

Anyhow, Italy won the finals this time, and the Italian fans are happy, but the British are not, and they blame the players that missed the spot-kicks.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the people targeting three black players who missed spot-kicks in the penalty shootout against Italy should "crawl back under the rock from which you emerged", while his culture minister vowed to push ahead with new laws designed to curb online attacks.

Marcus Rashford, 23, Jadon Sancho, 21, and Bukayo Saka, 19, were surrounded by a support network on Monday after being subjected to a torrent of racially-charged online abuse following England's heartbreaking loss at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Tennis. Roger Federer out of Wimbledon, Nick Kyrgios because of an injury is out too, and is not going to Tokyo Olympic Games. Ash Barty has won Wimbledon, and we are all proud of her in Australia.

The man final was won by Novak Djokovic, the Italian Matteo Berrettini should be happy to have reached the finals, better luck next time.

Anyhow, the Olympic Games have begun in Tokyo, and most of us will be following them, to see if our countries are doing well.

-------------------------------

The corona virus pandemic.

Now, let us talk about the COVID 19. the first week of August 2021, the confirmed positive cases are over 200 million, the world death toll is over 4.2 million people and growing, in some country like USA it has slowed down, highly likely because of the immunization, in other countries it continues, it goes up and down a bit here and there. Today, the highest death tolls are USA 619,000 deaths, Brazil 559,000 deaths, India 426,000 deaths and Mexico 242,000 deaths; this are the four countries with most deaths.

Now, let us talk about the Australian position. There is a second or third wave of corona virus variant in Australia, they have started with some local lock downs, and ended up with several states lock down. Now a lot of people blame the politicians for it, the worse affected state this time is N.S.W.

Anyhow, while people blame the politician because they have not organized sooner the vaccine. But then there are people that do not want to be vaccinated, so, is hard to say who is to blame, the states or the people?

----------------------------

Anyhow, in Australia the state of N.S.W. has the worst outbreak and what is happening now is the following, (and I quote)

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced a significant tightening of restrictions,

New South Wales needs to drastically overhaul its approach to coronavirus restrictions or face worsening cases, a leading health expert has warned.

"There's got to be the curfew arrangements, (stricter) mask arrangements, the restriction of movement arrangements," Strategic Health Policy consultant Professor Bill Bowtell told Today.

"We cannot vaccinate our way out of this crisis. We have got to go back to COVID zero. But we can't do it in the next few weeks."

READ MORE: Five deaths, 262 new COVID-19 cases in NSW as lockdown extended to Hunter region.

Now about Queensland, after a scare that lasted more than a week, things are better.
Queensland Chief Health Officer Doctor Jeannette Young is "genuinely hopeful" the state will emerge from lockdown on Sunday but urged residents to remain "cautious".

"It can take only seconds for that transmission to happen, so please, just keep wearing masks, keep coming forward and getting tested, use that QR code," she said on Friday's daily COVID-19 press conference.

"It's those things that will keep us safe and enable us, hopefully, and I'd genuinely am hopeful that we  will be able to lift this on Sunday, but if we don't do all those things that will make it really difficult to lift Sunday". (End of quotes)

I believe that I have said enough in this blog, so, see you next time, with another blog about what is happening in the world, where we will continue to talk about the Olympic games and other things.

Australia is at risk from climatic changes.

Dear readers, in this blog, we have written several posts about D.I.Y. articles that dealt with building works. Having done that, now we are writing posts about social issues. We have started with this post, Farming today is still a risky business, we want to talk about social issues that can affect all of us. We will continue with Australian social issues that we have already written in the past, when these things happened; then we will follow with what is happening these days.
We believe that to continue and make sense, we should post what has happened since, and then try to link everything together. So in this blog let us talk about, Australia climatic changes.

Anyhow, you can also find this article at, http://oldman-lifeworks.blogspot.com

From the map shown above, one could think that Australia is a vast desert, but in Australia we have also some good land. Anyhow, because this year is hot and dry, there are many fires burning, so, what had grown in the good land now is burning up. This is a real problem that is hard to control, but something needs to be done, because we do not want that this good land becomes desert.

Australia is at risk from climatic changes.

Welcome to our article, Australia Climatic Changes

Dear readers, I am writing this article, to talk about the climatic changes that we are experiencing all over the world; however, I believe that Australia has a higher risk to be affected adversely, as you will see, when we write about what is happening now. So, even though climatic change is affecting the entire world, and we will mention a few facts before we end this article, because in this article I want to talk mostly about Australia climatic problems, because I live in Australia and that is where my point of view comes from.

Anyhow, after looking at the effects that the drought is having in Australia, we must ask ourselves, if there are things that can be done to minimize its effects, because it is affecting everybody adversely in different degrees. Of course, the most affected people are the farmers, because they need the right weather, to produce the best crops, or food for their stock. But when there is a drought, the farmers by themselves cannot do much to improve the situation; in a situation like this, they try to last if they can, while they pray God for rain.

Being a farmer is a risky business, the worst part of it all, is that it has severe ups and downs, you can compare this in these two articles that we have written about farming: the first article, Farming today compared to the old way, this article shows the farmers rich and well organized, and because of their success the entire country is benefiting, because the food is cheaper. Then we have the second article, Farming Today Is Still a Risky Business, here the farmer are in trouble, they are still organized as before, but whatever they do is not enough to get them out of trouble, they need more help from outside, it is not their fault that they cannot produce much, because the drought is severe, so, all vegetation has dried up.

Now, that is not all, because while I am writing this article, Australia is burning, because all vegetation is tinder dry, it is hotter than usual, even though it is still springtime. They say that the fires have burned over one million hectares already, and still burning; they think that this year is going to be hard for us all. anyhow, we hope that it rains, and the temperature is not too high this summer, even if the weather forecast says otherwise.

---------------------------------

What can we do to minimize the problem?

So, we ask ourselves what can be done? It is not easy to say what can be done, but I believe that there are things that could be done. So, I am going to go out of my way, and I am going to write several articles, where I will tell you all the crazy things that come into my mind, that could be done to improve the situation, even if what I am saying has very little chance to happen in real life now. To do what I want to do, I must think that most things can start from an idea, and those things that we dream and seem impossible to become true presently, one day in the future they can happen.

Anyhow, let me start with what we know today, we believe that Australia is the country that needs to be organized most, to overcome the global warming problems, because Australia is a large country and the driest continent on earth, so, we are one of the first countries that is going to feel the change most, and the changes can be severe or even catastrophic.

But we believe that it does not need to be so bad, if the entire country of Australia is organized to help each other in the future. So, we need to discuss, how Australia can overcome the climatic problems of the future, in our future articles.

These problems have started in the form of the drought and high temperature, which are believed to be caused from the global warming. So, it looks like that we must make sure, that we can work out a way how to stop this global warming. Then work out a way how to live with what is left.

You see, these days things are bad; while I am thinking to write what can be done in the future. Suddenly I have come across this article in Face Book, that prompts me to talk about what is happening right now. To understand what we are saying, look at the picture we have uploaded, taken from Face Book, and the comment that was written to explain the fire disaster in Australia

The following was taken from Face Book

I say that even the view of this lonely kookaburra can make people cry, if we thing what we have lost and we continue to lose to the fires. And look at that bird , do you think it feels lonely and scared.

The following was taken from Face Book

This article was written under the picture of this lonely kookaburra looking at the burnt-out bush, and perhaps feeling scared and lonely.

And I quote

Please pray for our nation, this is the worst bush fires we have Ever experienced! Just to put in perspective how bad this all is. When the amazon rain-forest went up in flames it burnt 125,000 hectares. Australia so far has lost 970,000 hectares, and it’s only going to get worse. Over 200 homes have been lost, several lives lost and countless stock and wildlife - whole colonies of koalas have been wiped out.

We are no longer the sunburn country, we are a country on fire.
“We’ve got areas the size of Europeans countries on fire here,” said Gaven Muller, acting inspector of Fire and Rescue on the north coast.

Our firefighters are heroes - all of them and need our prayers and support. We have crews from as far away as Tasmania, NZ and the NT and possibly crews soon from Canada and the USA.

This is no time for blame but a time for us all to pull together.

Pray for the families affected by this catastrophe.

(End of quote)

Now, what I can add here is that last night on the news they said that we had lost 304 homes and 4 people dead. We don’t know what else to say, except that we hope it rains and the temperature goes down, so, the firefighter can extinguish the fires and return safely home.

That is all in this article about Australia, now I want to mention other things that are happening in the world.

-----------------------------

News and weather in the world today

Today is the 21st of November 2019, and this is my news diary, written to remind me what I thought was important to mention today and what I have learned during the past week about the weather and other things in Italy. Hereunder are three links of other important articles, that I believe are important enough to remember. Anyhow I am not going to say much about them:

Trump impeachment all but inevitable

Well if they remove Trump the world has a better chance to talk global warming control.

VENICE UNDER WATER: High tide floods most of city, kills 6 ...

These events happen more often these days, due to global warming.

Taliban frees Aussie held since 2016

This is good news; I hope that the Taliban do this more often.

Anyhow, you can read the full story by clicking on the link.

--------------------------

Now, let me talk briefly about what is happening in Italy today, because of the global warming. You see, not only Venice is underwater, also most if Italy is experiencing torrential rains that is causing a lot of damage. There are floods and land slide in several places. In the South of Italy, the people of Matera a city in the region of Basilicata, are crying for help, but no much help is given, they believe that the government has forgotten about them, they seem to be interested about Venice, and why the Mose-project has not been finished and used to defend the city. (The Mose-Project is a wall that can rise from the sea to stop the high tides in Venice)

My view about this is that, when this wall is finished, it may save Venice for a while, but if the global warming continues, even this wall one day might not be enough to save the city. So, mankind really needs to think how we can stop this global warming.

Anyhow, in this article, we want to talk more about the problems that global warming is causing in Australia than the rest of the world. I believe that I have said enough in this article, even if, I have talked about other parts of the world for comparison sake.

When I wrote this article the first time, I could not have guessed that other terrible things were about to start, and the world instead of looking at how to stop climatic change, people had to see first how to survive the corona virus pandemic.

Our next article will be about, Australia and the corona virus. See you soon.
